Why Use A Dive Computer

Moosejaw Summer Clearance Sale. Free Shipping on Orders Over $49!

All divers, from beginners to experienced divers should use a dive computer.

Dive computers are mandatory in some dive resorts around the world. They allow divers to remain underwater longer and improve the safety of the dive.

Being able to spend more time underwater means you don’t have to cut your dive experience short, which is the last thing you would want to do when enjoying the amazing creatures around you.

The use of the dive computer has revolutionized diving. Before dive computers were invented, dive time was calculated based on the maximum depth you intended to dive to using dive tables.

The actual dive is used by the dive computer to calculate the maximum dive time. The diver is constantly updated with how much dive time is remaining based on their current depth. Letting you remain underwater safely for longer.

The chances of suffering with decompression sickness will be reduced by using a dive computer. You will not be immune to decompression sickness, but have more chance of enjoying a safe dive.

The pressure increase during a dive, causes nitrogen from your breathing air to dissolve into your body . The greater the depth you are diving, the faster nitrogen will dissolve into your body. Keeping the dissolved nitrogen levels within accepted guidelines, is important to reduce the risk of decompression sickness. Your dive computer will track your dive depth and time to do this. The dive computer uses a decompression model to calculate theoretical levels of nitrogen, and displays the time and depth limits you need to stay within during the dive.

Dive computers also help prevent out of air emergencies. Your computer will monitor pressure and air time remaining, so you will never have to worry about running out of air. Most dive computers will have alarms to warn you when you get close to a limit, such as maximum depth, ascent rate etc

When buying a dive computer one of the top brands to consider is Suunto.

Suunto is a leading manufacturer and designer of precision sports instruments for diving.

Their Suunto D9 dive computer is a feature rich multi purpose dive instrument providing many features not found in any other dive computer.

The Suunto D9 combines the complete package of dive gauges and dive-critical information all in one stylish instrument, conveniently mounted on your wrist.

The D9 Suunto is the ultimate instrument of choice for all kinds of divers. The Suunto D9 is an invaluable diving aid for those who do not compromise when it comes to the quality, materials and functionality of their dive equipment.

Why You Should Consider A LED Underwater Light

Lately, LED underwater light has come into vogue. It can now be regarded as in the vanguard of lighting technology. It has overtaken by far the standard bar type lighting and almost every other type of conventional lighting mode. Although this new technology has been connected with aquatic usage, it has made market inroads into all areas of our everyday life. From car headlamp systems, city highway illuminations civic lighting and traffic signalling LED is at the forefront.

Their use aquatically is widespread. The boating, fishing and water-sports and pool- owning enthusiasts just love LEDs. The reason why are many. They last longer than conventional lighting systems-nearly a decade for most swimming pools as an example. They’re attractive and highly luminescent, as well as very colourful. An extra bonus is that they are much cheaper and good for the environment too. Installation is simple. Most DIY folks could easily and quickly install a LED light system, saving time and money on top of that! LED incidentally, to give its proper name, means light-emitting diode. It is a semi-conductor source of light, and although initially was restricted to the color red, and low intensity, has blossomed into ultraviolet, visible and infrared, and better intensity.  Most experienced scuba fans use a LED underwater dive light, because of its many benefits.

The rainbow-hued lights look nice, and give an enchanting feel to ponds and pools through the night. The fun of an all-night summer pool party can be greatly enhanced by LED illumination that is colourful and scintillating. This is particularly true of underwater displays, which help make night swims especially relaxing.

As for the sailors and fishermen amongst us-they are LED light lovers too. LED make life easier, safer and much more fun. Almost any hull can be easily fitted out with the lights, which help with navigation as well as creating a great atmosphere for both sailors and their guests.

If you are fishing from the boat, quayside or riverbank, you will discover LED lighting is a terrific lure for fish. The vibrant colours illuminating the area will fascinate and draw them in. As a result, you will often see fishing craft hulls decked out extensively with these low-power lights.

Fortunately, the days of inefficient expensive and polluting lighting is coming to an end, thanks to this exciting new technology. Of course, LED underwater light is a main usage but the spectrum is ever widening as this product is being applied in many ways far beyond any aquatic connection. Both safety and fiscal aspects are well served.

Next time you use your remote control to turn on your television, DVD or other household appliance, or maybe stop at the highway traffic signals, think for a moment of how blessed you are to have these awesome advantages from such a simple technology as LED. And as has been mentioned, LED underwater light is simply one of the numerous illuminating concepts!

Diving The Reef Near Cairns, Queensland, Australia

I’m here in Cairns Australia and what else to do here than scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef? I guess as long as I’m next to the worlds largests living thing I might as well explore a tiny part of it in detail. The day I arrived I booked a four day scuba diving cruise which includes 11 dives (2 of which will be night dives) , with all meals included. The company was called Pro Dive.

We left for the reef two days later. The boat was big and spacious and I even got my own ensuite cabin, which was great for changing after every dive. The reality is that it was pretty crazy. The schedule each day was – wake up at 6:30 and dive , have a hot breakfast , dive , have a scrumptous lunch , dive , have cake , dive , have dinner , more diving , sleep. Life was reduced to that of a gold fish , just swimming and eating which was exactly what I was after}. I believe now that sea sickness tablets are more important than birth control tablets in the great scheme of things. People have been breeding since the start of humanity but only lately have people been afloat on a floating , motor driven machine in the great seas of the world. In other words , thank the man upstairs I aquired those tablets because the sea was very rough and they were my magic wand.

The dives were great and the things I saw were pretty amazing. I witnessed everything from sea turtles to hammerhead sharks and heaps of beautiful coral and interesting fish just swimming all around you. Because of the popular movie ‘Finding Nemo’ the fish of the great barrier reef have been christened new names. When you return from a dive you saw Nemo as opposed to a Clownfish. Being underwater though is amazing , it’s an alien world undeer the surface and being weightless is a great experience. Now I can safely say that I feel confident in the sea , equalizing my ears is childs play so I know that I am ready to continue diving in other destinations.
The instructors were totally fun and interesting as well. We had a briefing before each scuba dive and afterwards we all complied our log books with the details of the dives.  Also , the experienced~food was the best I’ve eaten} so far in Australia. some of the food was sun dried tomatoes and Mexican food , and freshly baked bread and tropical fruit. It was definitely good value , that’s a fact.

I think that if you don’t go  diving when you holiday in Cairns it’s like visiting Paris and not looking at the Eifel Tower, In other words, its a must do.

A diver underwater will usually experience sections where they are going to need more light. Almost everywhere a diver goes; the diver will need some form of artificial lighting. The light that a mini torch light can provide is ideal underwater. The light from this equipment will sufficiently provide just the right amount of light to the diver, so the diver can see around corners as well as other hard to reach areas with less light.

When the diver will need more light for a precise area, the light form this light torch will work efficiently because the light can produce a thinner, narrower beam of light for focusing on a smaller section. And it also has the ability to light a bigger, wider beam of light for the larger sections.

With any sort of equipment, the quality and durability is very important. This underwater tool stand the test because it consists of a strong material called anodized aluminum. This material is very resilient and will keep the condition in excellent care for a very long time.

It is important for divers to have their hands free underwater, so that the capability of this mini light hooking to the helmet is crucial. The diver can then take photographs and other activities better because they have full use of both hands.

The quality of the photographs is very important to a diver as to any type of photographer. But taking video and photographs underwater can prove to be difficult and the diver wants to make sure that they have the proper equipment for the job. The light produced from this underwater light can greatly improve the natural color in the water. The light can focus on a particular area with more accuracy and thus producing better lighting.

The LED mini torch light used by divers while diving underwater will provide a better experience and will be more fun. This too is fantastic for recreation as well as using it for professional reasons. Either way, it will make the diving experience more enjoyable and even better.

Choosing A High Quality LED Super Nova Torch For Underwater Photography And Cave Exploration

With a high quality LED super nova torch, this is your chance to undertake these new hobbies in a way you never would have thought possible.

A decent light source is very important to have the full enjoyment of a darkened environment. This is particularly the situation with non show caves, as they’ll not have any additional light sources. The Super Nova torch has a maximum beam of 500 lumens. Even at thirty percent capacity, it will emit a beam of 180 lumens.

Cave exploration can often take part in dangerous environments and uneven terrain. The very best torches really should be tough, yet light enough to be suitably portable. If you’re concerned with water damage, it’s waterproof to a depth of 400 feet or 122 metres.

The torch is adaptable a variety of light conditions. At a full charge, the 33 degree beam emits 500 lumens for up to 3 hours or 20 hours at 30 percent power. It can not be emphasised enough that the torch can frequently be your one light source, so it is essential to make sure it is fully charged.

When shooting pictures underwater, you should take the picture around a metre from your chosen subject. This means you will get a clearer shot and will look more aesthetically pleasing.

When taking photographs in a cave, it is a good idea to possess a person in the picture to get a good sense of perspective. This enables you to better gauge distances and have the perfect photos.

Be aware about your environment. Don’t touch coral or disturb the fish, which is another reason why it is sensible to keep a distance from your chosen subjects. It is a unique privilege and it’s best to respect everything around you.

A Lot On Fuji Waterproof Digital Camera

For all Scuba diving enthusiasts looking for relevant details on underwater digital camera housings and other scuba gear, you should speak with authorities on scuba diving. When it comes to underwater camera housings, they is usually an significant part of the scuba diver’s photography equipment, specifically for expert photographers.

The kinds of housings and selling prices can widely vary. Some may be bought for around $100, and others could be above $6,000, for skilled grade scuba divers. But should you make your living with underwater photography, the investment is properly worth it, for that shot of the lifetime.

As an overall package, this digital camera is basically astounding. Well, you will find a couple of things, but let me first commence with all the pros…

Top Dawg:

+ Excellent price. Obviously, obtaining this sort of technology for rather lower than $200 is generally a rare find. Fuji somehow keeps rates at the low end with the range, though handling to maintain quality.

Top Dawg’s line of camera housings provides a newer style that has the capacity to match over 180 Sony cameras. It characteristics a larger 3.5 inch monitor back, optical glass front port and a new hard anodized finish from aluminum construction. It is one on the world’s very best entry degree underwater video systems, suitable for the specialist at a price all around $2700.

Subal produces a prime notch line of photographic camera housings to match distinct brands of cameras and offers major place construction and capabilities like two lens mounting possibilities that permit for wider lenses, which several models don’t offer. While their price ranges are twice the Top Dawg line, Subal has a loyal following among the qualified underwater photography experts, even at over $6,000.

This thing feels solid, and fits nicely in the hands. The element set truly is as expansive as the description says. As mentioned before, a number of them are not virtually as very good as they sound, but which will be debated next. I’m not an even almost a professional snapper, and I am actually still learning, but the upgrade from a ‘normal’ point-and-shoot is significant. Shutter and aperture priority modes are fantastic, as would be the full-manual mode. Automatic modes are just your standard automatic modes, while utilizing the exception from the SP ’scene selection’ mode, which presents some nice settings in the event you uncover your self in a rush to get a shot or are unsure with the easiest method to compose a picture yourself. Luckily, using the flexible manual modes, you’ll locate your self applying automatic modes far much less as you become far more at ease with all the settings.

+ The zoom is great, as is the stabilization system. By far, this is my favorite mode.

Gates Underwater:

Defining themselves as “bullet-proof”, and great down to more than 400 feet, these prime notch housings are offered by means of authorized dealers, and it can be difficult to discover pricing on the internet, which may possibly tell you how very much they may well cost.
